The day I was born, the #1 hit in the US was Elvis Presley’s single Don’t Be Cruel / Hound Dog.
In the UK, the #1 hit was Doris Day’s Qué Será Será / What Will Be, Will Be.
In Australia, the hit song was Portuguese Washerwoman, by Jo “Fingers” Carr.
Well, I’m still looking for a way to hear the Washerwoman song, since I don’t know that one at all. Otherwise, I’ve gotta say, I like the US choice best. Your opinion may vary, of course…
(I have not yet finished the bind off on the vest. Something seems to be brewing with my health, I don’t feel well, and I chose to nap on the way home instead of knit. Also on the way to work this morning. I’ll see how I feel later. I want to finish this!)

I got: US: Southern Nights, by Glen Campbell. I’ve never heard it. UK: Knowing Me, Knowing You, by Abba. I know Abba, of course, but not that song. Australia: Don’t Give Up On Us, by David Soul. I’ve never heard of David Soul or the song.

Glen Campbell had lots of country hits, I remember many of them, but he was never one of my favourites. I love David Soul as an actor, he was Hutch in the original Starsky and Hutch. I think his music was more prevalent outside the US. And Abba, of course, is Abba. 😀 Uh oh, now I’ve got that song running in my head. So many of the Abba songs are like that!!! Argh!

Hmmm – I got “Band of Gold – Freda Payne” on the UK chart. I have no idea what song it is. I will have to look it up.
“Cracklin’ Rose – Neil Diamond” on the US chart – at least I know who Neil Diamond is 🙂 (I will probably know the song to when I listen to it..)
And another one I don’t know from the Australian chart: “In the Summertime – The Mixtures”

Eek, I remember Band of Gold. And I had a roommate who played Neil Diamond for hours, including that song. In the Summertime was a fun song!
